What is home care? In-home care can include medical or non-medical care or a combination of both. Companionship, homemaking services, and personal care are examples of non-medical care. Medical care, or home healthcare, describes skilled nursing care or therapies such as speech, physical, or occupational.
Who receives home healthcare? Home healthcare is for anyone who needs supportive assistance at home. This can range from anyone of any age who is recovering from an injury, illness, or surgery to an older individual who can no longer function effectively on their own or who has medical conditions that need management. Typically, medical orders from a physician will be required for these services to be covered by insurance.
What are some of the services offered by United Nursing Services? We offer a wide range of home healthcare services that can be custom-tailored to your specific needs, from highly skilled nursing care to therapeutic interventions, senior care, respite care, and warm companionship. Patient management, supervision and evaluation, skilled nursing care, home health aide services, skilled rehabilitation services, elder care, respite care, and transportation services.
Is there a written plan of care? Our initial patient management visit consists of a comprehensive evaluation with our registered nurse to identify the most beneficial level of care. A care plan is developed with input from the client or family and the primary healthcare provider. This plan is reviewed and revised regularly throughout our time together.
What are the advantages of using home healthcare? Home healthcare allows a person recovering from an illness, injury, or surgery to heal in familiar surroundings, leading to a better quality of life. It also enables an older adult to maintain control, comfort, and independence in their homes. Family members also experience a significant peace of mind knowing their loved ones are cared for when they can’t be there themselves.
Will Medicare pay for home healthcare? Medicare fully covers skilled home health services when ordered by a physician for qualifying homebound patients. These services can include professional nursing services, therapies, home health aide services, and medical social worker services. There are no co-payments or deductibles. The United Nursing Services clinical director will coordinate your treatment plan and answer any questions you have about Medicare-covered services.
Will my health insurance pay for home healthcare? At United Nursing Services, we accept direct payment for services from long-term care insurance companies, most workers’ compensation carriers, private insurance and managed care companies, and self-pay. UNS cannot always receive payment directly from PPO and HMO insurers. However, as a courtesy to our clientele, we will file a claim for you to assist you in obtaining reimbursement.
